Peace

I am the last person to get involved in politics and religious debates.  Lets be honest, unless it is shoes, football or handbags I don't have much of an opinion; but as an individual who was raised in a Muslim family I think that I have a few things I wish to express in words.

Islamic state... "Islamic"... According to whom, exactly, are these uneducated, vile cowards a part of Islam?  I have strong opinions on things which happen in the lives of those who claim to belong to Islam, however these are opinion based.  For instance, Muslims who judge fellow Muslims for not covering their hair or praying five times a day.  Or Muslim girls who are arguably strong believers just because they wear a hijab, but they do every other "haram" (forbidden) thing behind closed doors, or own more MAC lipsticks than I... Anyhow, this is besides the point.

I cannot express the rage that comes over me when I read things about terrorism.  Under which religion or religious law do you see that it is OK to kill innocent people?  Which book is this written in?  Did you give this life, for it to be OK for you to take it?  I find it even more bizarre, however, that these people call themselves the Islamic State.  In no country, Iraq or Syria, or even in Saudi Arabia where the religion originated, but nowhere in this world is it acceptable to take the lives of others.  As a Muslim, I can confidently say, that even attempting suicide, or killing a spider for that matter, (which is believed to be a big part of the Holy book), is a sin.  Now how can a group of terrorists claim to belong to this religion?

What is even just a little more worse than everything listed, though, is the hatred, the ignorance and the tragic comments which I have seen online since these bombings have taken place.  I do not under no circumstances condone terrorism, and I am a Muslim.  I am a Muslim, and I am not a terrorist.  Peace.

The Power of Rejection

When was the last time you did something without wondering 'what if?', or worrying about the outcome? Now I find this to be a bit of a problem in our society, and want to get to the bottom of it. I say it's a problem, because I see that a lot of people of all ages, holding back in doing what could change a lot in their lives and decisions.  I sometimes feel like rejection or being turned away in whatever I do is such an obstacle that I need to express the negative effect this may have on the lives of so many of us. In order to overcome this obstacle, the first question I ask myself is 'so what?'. This is key, because when you start answering your own questions, it's a lot simpler to picture why 'rejection' or an answer which isn't that of your expectations isn't actually an obstacle.  Stating facts or presenting opinions where due is a part of our nature, and the human race is one of the most confusing among all. The point is, you are ne...

Christmas in Amsterdam

Hey everybody!  For the very first time, I decided that a getaway for Christmas would be a fabulous idea because apparently I didn't have enough excuses to travel, anyway!  It didn't take me too long to decide that I wanted to go to Amsterdam as I had never been before ( considering its a 45 minute plane journey - a lot shorter than it takes a lot of us to commute from one end of London to the other! ) I found Amsterdam to be very pretty.  Very calm.  No hustle and bustle and very picturesque - so perfect for those who are passionate about photography!  I did a lot of walking around, exploring; going down one street and ending up in a completely different neighbourhood because I don't like planning and if you're a spontaneous one too, Amsterdam may be the place for you! There are a lot of cute little buildings, great history and so much art to take in, in this adorable city!  There is a lot more to it than the name and what it is actually known for....

Ripped, Torn or Never Worn?

Sometimes I find it extremely difficult to understand the basic factor of fashion.  Why do we choose to wear certain things?  Do we choose to wear them or is it what we read in the latest edition of Vogue magazine that pushes us to think that we like the look of a particular product?  When I first saw the knee ripped jeans, I'll be honest, I did think of jumping onto the bandwagon.  After all, I do like to associate myself with the trendiest and most popular items on the market; however, one thing which I don't associate myself with is going against a belief - and being an individual who needs a reason for most of her actions - including items of clothing and accessories I choose to put on; I needed to somehow justify my moment of delusion in potentially purchasing a pair. As I looked at photos online and approximately four girls in five, walking down the busy Oxford Street, there was something tickling my mind waiting to be noticed.  So I recognised what...
