This Bank Holiday weekend was a different one; a lot less of a popular destination and one which I simply didn't know what to expect. I think this is my favourite bit about the Earth, and not to mention why I am so fond of always being abroad - you always have to keep an open mind and go without influences of travel reviews and any other comments.

I'll admit, I did a lot of research on the location, the language(s) spoken, the kind of food which was eaten and to my surprise when I got there; I found that actually it is not only a place of politics and finance.
The parks, waterfalls and cobble streets gave this country a fairy-tale toy town feeling. The historical architecture, the quiet and narrow streets and most importantly the people and their positive, kind and friendly attitude didn't go unnoticed. That being said, the highlight of this trip was free travel on Saturdays - potentially the best thing you could hear as a tourist who has just stepped out of the terminal.
I do wish that I had taken some comfortable shoes with me as I did a lot of walking, however the beauty and the peaceful atmosphere made the temporary pain worth putting up with!
The subtle cross between the French and German culture was another amazing factor which made this trip so different. Almost like the country has been engineered to fit in the structure of the Parisian lifestyle with bakeries and cute coffee shops; but also very green, very futuristic and very clean!
This was by far one of the best weekends I have had for a long time, which I feel both days were enjoyed to the very max. Moral of the story is, when somebody tells you something about a place, do not let their opinions shadow your wanderlust! Visit, explore, learn and most importantly; always have fun!
